    Former bookkeeper admits to stealing $500,000 from doctor
    AMHERST, N.Y. (WIVB) — A former bookkeeper has admitted to stealing from a doctor’s office where she was employed.
    Between January 2011 and October 2016, Justine Smith, 56, stole $500,000 from the Amherst practice of Dr. Samuel Shatkin. She did so by falsifying business financial records.
    Smith admitted to suffering from a compulsive buying disorder. She could spend up to 15 years in jail when sentenced on May 17.

    Richard Frey, 85, was Mayor of Dunkirk from 2002 until 2012. Prosecutors say he had “substantial personal debt” during that time.
    He admitted to using campaign contributions for his own personal benefit.

    Lakewood-Busti police arrested Lance Anna, 34, after receiving a report of child abuse early last month.
    Anna is accused of slapping the child in the face numerous times. As a result, police say the child had bruising and swelling on their face and eye area.
    Along with a charge of third-degree assault, Anna is also accused of endangering the welfare of a child.
