    ORCHARD PARK, N.Y. (WIVB) – Star wide receiver Sammy Watkins was made available to the media for the first time since the Bills fired Rex Ryan on Thursday afternoon, and said he feels “sorry” for Tyrod Taylor who is being benched for Sunday’s game against the Jets.

    BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) — The wheels are in motion for at least two applications to the New York State Education Department to have Buffalo Board of Education member Carl Paladino removed from his post.
    During a special meeting Thursday, the local school board unanimously approved a resolution 6-2, including Paladino absent — ordering Paladino to resign by Friday afternoon.

    The board will be adopting a resolution calling for Carl Paladino to resign from his post. If not the board will formally apply to the state education department for Paladino’s removal.
    Paladino told News 4’s Dave Greber this morning he will not resign, and that sets in motion the process for Paladino’s formal removal by the state.

    BUFFALO, NY (WIVB) – Erie County Sheriff’s deputies say they found a loaded rifle next to an infant’s crib during a raid on a Fillmore Avenue home.
    Narcotics and SWAT units found marijuana and cocaine along with other drug paraphernalia in the home.  A semi-automatic rifle and a high capacity magazine were next to a baby’s crib.

    MIAMI, FLA. (WIVB) – Former Buffalo Bills safety Keion Carpenter has died following an accidental fall while on vacation in Florida. He was just 39 years old.
    Carpenter spent seven seasons in the NFL with the Buffalo Bills and Atlanta Falcons.  He died Thursday morning at a hospital in Miami.
    The athlete was on vacation with his family when he fell while playing with his son, hitting his head on pavement and slipping into a coma.

    BUFFALO, NY (WIVB) – Plans have been approved for the Campus Square Development project – a six-story complex in the Buffalo Niagara Medial Corridor.
    The McGuire Development Company and Mark Trammell announced they will break ground in March on the complex.  It will cover nearly three and a half acres directly across from the Gates Vascular Institute at East North and Ellicott Streets.
