    Man in serious condition after being struck by NFTA train
    BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB)- The NFTA Metro Rail was shut down for an hour on Saturday afternoon after a man was struck by a train.
    An NFTA Spokesperson says an outbound train heading to University Station struck the male approximately 200 yards into the Metro Rail tunnel.
    The man suffered serious injuries and was taken to ECMC. He is believed to be in his thirties.
    Rail service resumed around 3 p.m. from University station to Allen station. Bus service was being provided from Allen to Erie C

    Henry Heimlich, life-saving maneuver creator, dies at 96
     CINCINNATI (AP) — The surgeon who created the life-saving Heimlich maneuver for choking victims died early Saturday in Cincinnati. Dr. Henry Heimlich was 96.
    His son, Phil, said he died at Christ Hospital after suffering a heart attack earlier in the week.
    “My father was a great man who saved many lives,” said Heimlich, an attorney and former Hamilton County commissioner. “He will be missed not only by his family but by all of humanity.”

    ORCHARD PARK, N.Y. (WIVB)- The Buffalo Bills and Jani-King are asking for shoveling help at New Era Field ahead of the Bills Browns games on Sunday.
    In a Saturday morning blog post the Bills asked anyone interested in shoveling snow inside the stadium to go to New Era Field starting at 10:30 a.m.

    Crews investigate fire on Kenmore Avenue
    BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) — Fire officials are investigating a fire at 1416 Kenmore Avenue. Crews responded to the fire just after 3:00 pm Friday.
    The Buffalo Fire Department says the fire started on the second floor of the City A1 Driving School building.
    Two people were home during the fire, but both evacuated the building before crews got on scene. Firefighters told News 4 an older male suffered minor burns to his face, but neither one of them were taken to the hospital.

    BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) — Anyone who obtained a pistol permit before Jan. 31, 2013, must renew their license by January of 2018.
    So, handgun owners have more than a year to complete the application, and representatives from state police, which is handling the re-certification, said the process will be simplified.

    NIAGARA FALLS, N.Y. (WIVB)- Several shots were fired into a Willow Avenue home Thursday night around 9:30 p.m.
    Niagara Falls Police say a 3 year-old, 6 year-old and 13 year-old were in the home with their mother at the time.
    The 13 year-old female was struck by three rounds. One struck her in the forearm, one in the pelvis and one bullet was lodged in her skull.
