    Driver, passenger accused of possessing loaded handgun during traffic stop
    BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) — A driver with four active suspensions on his license and a passenger were accused of possessing a loaded gun without a permit.
    Buffalo resident Giorgio Williams, 23, was stopped on the I-290 around 2 a.m. for alleged vehicle and traffic law violations.
    After his suspensions were discovered by an Erie County Sheriff’s deputy, Williams was taken into custody.

    Cheektowaga man sentenced for killing girlfriend, burning body
    CHEEKTOWAGA, N.Y. (WIVB) — A Cheektowaga man will spend 23 years in prison after strangling his girlfriend last year.
    Sometime between April 22-24, 2015, Thomas Murphy, 59, killed Jean Hartwig, 63, and set her body on fire inside their home at Williamstowne Senior Apartments.
    He pleaded guilty to manslaughter and arson in October.
    In addition to prison time, Murphy was also sentenced to five years of post-release supervision.

    BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) — After noticing a vehicle allegedly make an illegal turn onto a one-way street, the Erie County Sheriff’s Office says four people were charged with drug crimes.
    A deputy says the vehicle turned and drove down Elm St. around 2 a.m. Monday.

    GENEVA, N.Y. (WIVB) — A Wyoming County man is accused of trying to engage in sexual contact with a 13-year-old girl.
    Glen Tarbell, 55, of Perry, was charged with attempted disseminating indecent material to minors and attempted criminal sexual act.
    Tarbell was arrested in Ontario County and taken into custody prior to having any sexual contact with the teen, New York State Police say.

    Mistrial declared in police officer murder trial
    CHARLESTON, S.C. (AP) — A mistrial has been declared in the trial of a South Carolina police officer charged with murder in the death of a black motorist.
    Circuit Judge Clifton Newman declared the mistrial after a jury said Monday that it was unable to unanimously agree on a verdict for Michael Slager.
    The judge had told jurors they could also consider a lesser charge of voluntary manslaughter.
