    BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB)-  Hundreds of babies are expected to go through withdrawal this year as the opioid epidemic continues in Erie County.
    In the first seven months of 2016, the doctors at Sisters Hospital treated just about the same number of chemically dependent babies, as were treated in all of 2015.
    “We have seen our numbers from 2014 to 2015 double, and from 2015 and 2016 to date double,” said Theresa Winner, the neonatal clinical nurse specialist.

    2 accused of trying to kill Sheriff’s deputy indicted
    GRAND ISLAND, N.Y. (WIVB) — Two people accused of trying to kill Sheriff’s deputy were indicted on Thursday.
    Sammy Abdellatif and Brittany Ashley-Graser are both charged with attempted murder.
    Prosecutors say they attacked a deputy in August.

    The teacher brought in prescription narcotic drugs to school with her, officials say.
    Later in the day, three first graders allegedly found and removed the pills. One of the students said he swallowed one.

    Crohn’s disease causes inflammation of the intestines. Mary Teresa suffers from terrible stomach pains because of it.

    BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) —The 2015/2016 winter season was expected to be mild with below average snow, and indeed that’s what Western New York saw. The lower than normal numbers really had to do with a slow start.
    In Buffalo from October to December we only managed to get 1″ of snow and this put us in a near 35″ deficit. Even though we had slightly above average snowfall in January and February it was just too much to overcome. We ended up at the end of the season with 55.1&P
