    Bombing suspect pleads not guilty in police shootings
    ELIZABETH, N.J. (AP) — A man accused of setting off bombs in New Jersey and New York, injuring more than 30 people, pleaded not guilty on Thursday to charges he tried to kill police officers before they captured him.
    An attorney for Ahmad Khan Rahimi entered the pleas as Rahimi appeared via video from his hospital bed in Newark. It was Rahimi’s first public appearance since last month’s bombings and police chase. He remains jailed on $5.2 million bail.

    KENMORE, N.Y. (WIVB) —  A local Kenmore West high school student is getting ready to have brain surgery to remove a tumor. Doctors say less than twp percent of people experience symptoms, but she’s experiencing more than 20 symptoms.
    Thirteen year-old Meghan Pawlak has a Pineal Cyst in her brain which is also considered a tumor.

    BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) — One in four adults in western New York read at or below a 5th grade level. Literacy New York is the region’s only provider that gives adults one-on-one reading tutoring for free.

    LEWISTON, N.Y. (WIVB)- The aerosol irritant that caused seven postal workers in Lewiston to get sick was dog repellent, according to postal inspectors.
    The repellent comes in a canister, which started to leak; most postal workers are issued repellent for their safety if they need to deliver mail outside.

    BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) — The distributor of the refried beans at Mighty Taco that may have caused widespread sickness has been identified.
    Samples from the batch of beans made by Pellegrino Food Products, a Pennsylvania company, were sent to a lab for testing on October 7.
    It is not clear if the beans are what made people sick in late September and early October, but more than 140 people in Erie and Niagara counties complained of illness after eating them.

    Lockport man accused of assaulting infant son twice
    LOCKPORT, N.Y. (WIVB) — Niagara County Sheriff’s deputies say a Lockport man assaulted his infant son, twice.
