    BERLIN (AP) — A 22-year-old woman is under investigation for manslaughter after German police found a suitcase in her apartment with a newborn baby girl inside along with the skeleton of a second infant, Hannover prosecutors said Friday.

    ALBION, N.Y. (WIVB) — Starting Saturday, police officers in Albion will be implementing the third part of their Video Recording Program.

    PORTVILLE, N.Y. (WIVB) — Elevated levels of lead have been found in the water at Portville Central School.
    School officials said testing was done on the elementary half of the Cattaraugus County building. Of 96 samples that were taken, nine of them showed elevated lead levels — more than 15 parts per billion.

    ALEXANDER, N.Y. (WIVB) — The Genesee County Sheriff’s Office has arrested a man accused of stealing commercial batteries from a business in Alexander.
    Bart Towne, 48, was charged with grand larceny after deputies say he stole more than $3,000 worth of batteries.
    Following his arrest, Towne was jailed in Genesee County on no bail.

    Woman killed by train in Dunkirk was trying to save her dog
    DUNKIRK, N.Y. (WIVB) — Dunkirk Police have identified the woman who was fatally struck by a train just after midnight Wednesday.
    Athena Dipirro, 37, a Dunkirk resident, was walking along the CSX Railway with her dog when a westbound train began to approach.
    In an attempt to save her dog, who was near the tracks, Dipirro stepped onto the train’s path. This led to the fatal collision.
    The incident was called “a tragic accident” by police.

    BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) — The New York State DEC has confirmed the presence of harmful algae bloom in Hoyt Lake at Delaware Park.
