    BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) — A former maintenance supervisor at the University at Buffalo was extradited from Nevada to face charges.
    Dean Yerry, a 63-year-old who retired from UB in 2014, has been charged with bribe receiving and conspiracy to prevent competitive bidding or competitive offering on public contracts.

    ANCHORAGE, Alaska (AP) — Most every Alaskan will be just over a thousand dollars richer next month.
    Gov. Bill Walker’s office on Friday announced the amount of this year’s annual oil wealth check at $1,022. The checks will be distributed beginning Oct. 6.

    ALBANY, N.Y. (AP) — Authorities in New York state have made a record drug bust, seizing 33 kilograms of heroin and 2 kilograms of fentanyl.

    NY waterfowl, wild turkey and pheasant hunting seasons annouced
    ALBANY, N.Y. (WIVB) — The New York Department of Environmental Conservation (DEC) has announced the dates for some small game hunting in the state.
    Besides the youth-only hunting seasons for pheasants and waterfowl, several seasons will open on October 1.
    Wild Turkey season goes from October 1-14 in the state’s Northern Zone, from October 15-28 in the Southern Zone, and November 19-December 2 in Suffolk County. Hunters may take only one bird per season.

    BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) — A Buffalo man has been indicted on a charge of murder after another another man was killed weeks ago.
    Prosecutors say Marco Sweat, 35, fatally shot Charles Wyatt, 51, on E. Delavan Ave.
    The Sep. 2 shooting happened around 8:45 a.m.
    Sweat pleaded not guilty to the charge of murder and is being held without bail.

    In court, Leland Burks, 56, admitted that he used stolen credit cards to buy tickets for a Kevin Hart show in Buffalo last year.
    During this time, Burks booked hotel rooms in Buffalo with the stolen cards, telling people he was associated with the comedian.

    Police stop alleged drugged driver in Tonawanda
    TONAWANDA, N.Y. (WIVB) — A North Tonawanda woman was charged with driving while impaired by drugs when she was stopped on Minerva St.
    As they responded to a report of “reckless operation” Wednesday night, police officers found and stopped 59-year-old Corrine Martin.
    According to a witness who followed Martin, she had been driving all over the road, nearly striking curbs.
    Officers described Martin as “lethargic” as she told them about opioid pills she consumed.

    TOWN OF HARMONY, N.Y. (WIVB) — One person was killed and two others were injured when a driver struck an Amish buggy in Chautauqua County.
    Chautauqua County Sheriff’s deputies say a woman was driving on Weeks Rd. in the Town of Harmony when she fell asleep and rear-ended the buggy Thursday afternoon.
    The man operating the buggy, Henry Koffman Jr., was pronounced dead at the scene. A woman and three children were taken to UPMC Hamot for treatment.

    Security guard stabbed at 716 Food and Sport restaurant
    BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) — Police say a security guard was stabbed by an intoxicated customer outside of 716 Food and Sport restaurant Thursday night.
    According to a police spokesperson, the male suspect was being escorted out of the restaurant when he pulled out a knife and stabbed the security guard in the hand.
    The suspect reportedly fled the scene and was later taken into custody by police. The security guard suffered non-life threatening injuries.
    Charges against the suspect are pending.
