    BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB)– First time bus riders are getting a sneak peak at their transportation mode. First Student is allowing kids to get on board the bus to check out what it’ll be like when they’re riding to school.
    “They’ve never ridden a bus before and of course they’re a little apprehensive,” said Al Diamico, the Director of Transportation for the Buffalo Public Schools.

    Man severely injured in West Seneca home invasion
    WEST SENECA, N.Y. (WIVB) — Police say a man suffered a serious head injury after a man and a woman beat him inside his West Seneca home.
    Police found the victim “bloodied, beaten and robbed” with a severe head laceration. According to the victim, 19-year old Gabrielle Olejniczak-Allen entered his home Sunday night asking to borrow money. At the same time, 27-year-old Robert Lansberry of Niagara Falls climbed through a window and attacked the victim. Police say Lansberry struck

    Body discovered in Batavia park
    BATAVIA (WIVB) – Police in Batavia say a man’s body was found on a trail in DeWitt Park early Monday.
    Officials were called to the scene around 9 a.m. after a fisherman found the body partially submerged in water.
    The body was taken to the Erie County Medical Examiner for an autopsy.
    Batavia Police say they will update with new information as it becomes available.

    CHEEKTOWAGA, N.Y. (WIVB) — Police say Barry Fiume, 62, was killed after he was unable to escape a house fire on Peoria Avenue Monday afternoon.
    When News 4 crews arrived to the scene the home was fully engulfed in flames. First responders say it took a total of 6 companies to put the fire out.
    Firefighters say the fire started in the upstairs bedroom and spread throughout the home. After battling the fire for nearly two hours, the home was declared a total loss.

    AMHERST, N.Y. (WIVB)– Brock Turner, the man convicted of sexually assaulting a woman behind a dumpster after leaving a fraternity party, has been released from jail.  Turner, a former Stanford swimmer, was sentenced to 6 months; he served 90 days.

    Clarence restaurant employee robbed, shot Sunday night
    CLARENCE, N.Y. (WIVB) — A worker at Zoe restaurant was robbed and shot late Sunday, according to New York State Police.
    The employee was closing for the night and leaving with the day’s receipts just after 11:00 p.m., when the worker was approached, robbed, and shot multiple times.
    The victim suffered non-life threatening injuries, according to State Police.
    Troopers and the Bureau of Criminal Investigation are still looking into the incident as of early Monday.

    Depew Police say the crash happened around 1:30 p.m. Sunday on Walden Avenue near Transit Road.

    LOCKPORT, N.Y. (WIVB) –  There’s a growing problem in Niagara County affecting seniors. A group focused on elder abuse says they are the invisible victims of the opiate epidemic.
