    BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) — Prosecutors sentenced a man to time served (six months) in jail after he tried to renew the passport of a dead man.
    Buffalo resident Porfirio Rosa, 74, sent a passport renewal application, which includes a name, social security number and birth date to the Western Passport Center in Arizona this past October. He sent it under the name Luis Rosa.
    Luis Rosa died in 1995.

    ALBANY, N.Y. (AP) — New York is lowering the age at which drivers can register to become organ donors from 18 down to 16.
    Gov. Andrew Cuomo signed the law Thursday, saying thousands of New Yorkers are waiting for organs and this will help to grow the registry of potential donors.
    The law includes a provision for parents to rescind that consent if their child dies before turning 18.

    BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) — In only 12 hours, Erie County Sheriff’s deputies say they caught four drivers and a passenger with drugs.
    Starting shortly after 6:30 p.m., deputies’ first arrest happened in the town of Concord. Forestville resident Scott Schober, 22, was stopped on Genesee Rd. and allegedly found with glassy eyes, slurred speech and a lack of coordination.

    Olcott Beach deemed unsafe for swimming
    OLCOTT, N.Y. (WIVB) — The water at Olcott Beach in Niagara County has been deemed unsafe for swimming by the Niagara County Department of Health.
    The department issued an advisory Thursday after officials tested the water and determined it to have an “unsatisfactory bacteriological” quality.

    BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) — Buffalo Police say the driver of a vehicle that went into Buffalo waters overnight was drunk.
    Just before 10:30 p.m. Wednesday, the vehicle was submerged near Tifft St. and Fuhrmann Boulevard.
    Before the crash, the driver, William Lambert, 49, had allegedly been driving on Tifft when he ran a stop sign and struck a guard rail.

    BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) — After spending a year in jail for criminal sexual acts with his patients, Dr. Dharam Garg, 65, is out and law enforcement officers are looking for him.
    The Erie County Sheriff’s Office says Garg is wanted after he failed to inform officials of his address change. As a sex offender, Garg is required to do so.
    The sex acts between Garg and his patients lasted from April 2011 to November 2012. Four different patients were involved in multiple incidents.
