    LINCOLN, Neb. (AP) — Ten states are suing the federal government over rules requiring public schools to allow transgender students to use restrooms and locker rooms conforming to their gender identity.

    WASHINGTON (AP) — The Army says Micah Xavier Johnson, named as a suspect in the Dallas police shootings, served in the Army Reserve and did one tour of duty in Afghanistan.
    The Army says Johnson was a private first class and his home of record is Mesquite, Texas. His military occupational specialty was carpentry and masonry.

    TOWN OF ASHFORD, N.Y. (WIVB) — New York State Police were led on a high-speed motorcycle chase that led to charges against two people Thursday.
    While patrolling in the Town of Ellicottville, State Police say they noticed two motorcycles speeding by at 78 MPH in a 55 MPH zone.
    After passing by, the motorcyclists noticed a Trooper’s car pull out to chase them, so they sped up to 120 MPH, according to State Police.

    COLDEN, N.Y. (WIVB) — Back in April, Sardinia resident Kody Schroeder, 19, was driving in the Town of Colden when he crashed into another vehicle on Center Rd.
    Schroeder’s vehicle ended up in a ditch, and his back seat passenger, Wales resident Chauncey Kloiber, 28, was killed. Another passenger in the front was severely injured.

    ALBANY, N.Y. (AP) — An obnoxious type of algae known as “rock snot” has been confirmed in a popular trout stream in western New York.
    The Department of Environmental Conservation says it’s the first documented finding of the aquatic nuisance species west of the Catskills.
