    David Hanes wins International Junior Masters
    ELMA, N.Y. (WIVB) – Elma’s David Hanes won the 64th International Junior Masters on Friday afternoon with a 4 and 3 victory in match play.
    Hanes, who is set to play golf at Canisius next year, beat Rochester’s Colin Dubnik for the title at East Aurora Country Club.
    Last week Hanes qualified for the Porter Cup, which begins on July 27th. He will be playing in the event with his brother at Niagara Falls Country Club.

    Two women hurt in hit-and-run near UB
    AMHERST, N.Y. (WIVB) – Two women were hurt while crossing Kenmore Avenue at Main Street Friday afternoon.
    Amherst police said 20-year-old Kelsey Smolinski was hit by a vehicle in the crosswalk while heading toward the University Plaza just after 12:00 p.m.
    She then rolled into 61-year-old Marie Destin. Police say their injuries are not serious.
    Authorities are still looking for the driver. Amherst Police said the vehicle may be a silver Nissan Rogue. It has out of town license plates.

    BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) — Family and friends prayed before singing happy birthday to Juan Rodriguez at ECMC where he’s celebrating his 12th birthday today. He was shot in the forehead Wednesday night in what police say was a gang related incident.
    “He loves to play he’s a good kid in school, he gets good grades he’s caring, loving, he’s everything that a kid should be,” said Tylor Rodriguez, Juan’s brother.

    Brawl in K-Mart ends with woman stabbed in the face
    TOWN OF NIAGARA, N.Y. (WIVB) –  A fight in a Town of Niagara K-Mart store Thursday ended with one woman arrested charged with stabbing another in the face. 
    Alexandra Harris, 29, from the Falls was charged with first degree assault.
    The victim suffered a severe facial injury and was taken to ECMC for treatment.
     Harris was arraigned and is due back in court on July 5.

    Aide charged with slamming woman into bus window
    CHEEKTOWAGA, N.Y. (WIVB)-  An aide for the developmentally disabled has been charged with grabbing a woman in her care by the hair and slamming her head into a bus window.
    Cassandra Neasman-Young, 45, is employed by the Western New York Developmental Disabilities Office, DDSO.  She was arrested and charged with harassment and endangering the welfare of a physically disabled person.  The incident occurred on May 10, 2016.

    NORTH HARMONY, N.Y. (WIVB) – A Brocton man was injured when the mobile crane he was driving tipped over on Rt. 394 in North Harmony.
    Lawmen say that Jason Selig, 46, was seen driving recklessly causing him to lose control and slam into a utility pole.   Selig was ejected from the vehicle and sent by helicopter to Hamot Hospital in Erie, PA. where he is listed as stable.
    Live electrical wires were left hanging hampering traffic in that area following the crash.

    Bangladesh (AP) — Local media report that a group of up to nine attackers took hostages inside a restaurant frequented by both locals and foreigners in a diplomatic zone in Bangladesh’s capital.
    Bangladesh TV stations reported that the attackers entered the Holey Artisan Bakery in Dhaka’s Gulshan area around 9:20 p.m. Friday and were holding customers and staff hostage.
