    BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) – Jay Bonafede with the Western New York chapter of the American Red Cross was in Texas back in March.
    Since the beginning of the year, multiple systems have torn across the state forcing thousands of families to evacuate and devastating homes and businesses.

    Sen. Schumer: Phone companies should offer robocall blocking
    NEW YORK (AP) — Sen. Charles Schumer is introducing legislation that would require phone companies to offer a free service that would block robocalls from bill collectors, politicians and other sources.The New York Democrat said Sunday that the legislation would require both mobile and landline service providers to offer the blocking technology.
    A companion bill was introduced in the House of Representatives by Rep. Jackie Speier, a California Democrat.

    BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) –– As violence continues to grow on Buffalo’s east side, a local group thinks they have a solution or at least the first step in making the area safer.
    Friday night three people were shot at the corner of Fillmore and French street. Police told News 4 the three victims were in their twenties. A 28-year-old man died on the scene.

    Local WW2 hero honored for his service and sacrifice
    BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) — Officials celebrated a local hero and Navy veteran from Buffalo for the 74th anniversary of the pivotal Battle of Midway.
    The Battle of Midway is known as the most important naval battle of the pacific from World War II.
    Rear Admiral C. Wade McClusky, risked his life and others in his squadron to continue the search for a Japanese fleet. He provided the exact coordinates of the fleet to inflict irreparable damage to it which had just torpedoed and sank the Yorktown.
