    WASHINGTON (AP) — The Senate voted decisively on Tuesday in favor of a bipartisan $1.1 billion measure to combat the Zika virus this year and next, cutting back President Barack Obama’s request but offering significantly more money to fight Zika than would House GOP conservatives.

    Officials have been prosecuting Leslie May, 58, since Jan. 26 when police responded to the scene of domestic violence. Officers say he hit his wife in the head with a gas can, then doused her with gasoline.

    NEW YORK (AP) — The 1980 U.S. Olympic hockey team’s victory over the Soviet Union is forever remembered as the “Miracle on Ice.”
    Now, the goaltender of that gold medal-winning team, Jim Craig, is parting with his most prized items from one of the greatest sporting moments of the 20th century.
    Estimated to bring between $5 million and $7 million, the 17 items are being offered through the online auction house Lelands.com.

    Legal age for buying tobacco jumps to 21 in Chautauqua County
    MAYVILLE, N.Y. (WIVB) — Teens in Chautauqua County will no longer be allowed to purchase tobacco products soon, according to a new law signed into effect by Chautauqua County Executive Vince Horrigan.
    Passed by the Chautauqua County Legislature, the law changes the legal purchasing age of tobacco products from 18- to 21-years-old. Horrigan said he signed the new law in part because it is a bi-partisan supermajority.

    Cancer patients cut ribbon at grand opening of new Roswell building
    BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) — Cancer survivors helped cut the ribbon on Roswell Park’s new building on Monday.
    This was the grand opening for the Scott Bieler Clinical Sciences Center on the medical campus. Scott Bieler has worked to raise money for the building for decades.
    The 11-story building will house several centers that deal with women’s cancer, chemotherapy and infusions treatments.

    YATES, N.Y. (WIVB) — New York State Police think alcohol was involved in an Orleans County accident that left a vehicle torn in two.
    Just before midnight Monday, Melanie Cantabrana, 23, was driving on Platten Road in the Town of Yates when she crashed into a large tree.

    NEW YORK (AP) — Grammy-winning singer-songwriter Guy Clark has died.
    Clark died Tuesday at his home in Nashville, Tennessee, according to his manager, Keith Case. He was 74 and had been in poor health, although Case didn’t give an official cause of death.
