    BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) — As Amherst’s Northtown Plaza prepares to give way to a new Whole Foods supermarket, the Erie County DMV will officially move out.
    Erie County Clerk Chris Jacobs officially announced the Auto Bureau will move to the Town of Tonawanda Sheridan plaza on Eggert Road. As the bureau moves, it will be closed this Thursday and Friday, and officially will reopen on Monday, Feb. 29.

    Carney, the 20th president of the university, said she received the news just days after her announcement, learning she has multiple myeloma, a cancer of the blood causing abnormal plasma cells to congregate in bones and in the bone marrow.

    Medical emergency leads to fatal crash in Amherst
    AMHERST, N.Y. (WIVB) — A Clarence woman is dead after a medical emergency led her to crash her vehicle on Wednesday.
    Officers responded to the scene of the crash on North Forest Road where they learned a vehicle left the road way, glancing off a tree after striking a street sign around 1:25 p.m.
    The crash left 49-year-old Clarence native Gloria Jean Moran with serious injuries. First responders brought her to Millard Fillmore Suburban Hospital where she succumbed to those injuries.

    Sheriff: Weapon found in inmate housing unit
    BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) — Erie County Sheriff’s deputies say they discovered a shank in an inmate’s cell at the Erie County Holding Center.
    The weapon, described by deputies as being made with a broken light bulb and a duct tape handle, was seen after it fell from the bed sheets of 18-year-old Jemmott Pierce, according to authorities.
