    First case of Zika virus confirmed in Erie County
    BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) – Health officials confirm they are treating the first case of the Zika virus in Erie County.
    Dr. Gale Burstein, the Erie County Health Commissioner, tells News 4 the patient visited El Salvador sometime within the past few weeks.
    The patient was diagnosed with the Zika virus on Wednesday.
    Dr. Burstein could not disclose personal information about the patient.
    The patient is receiving treatment and will recover.

    BUFFALO (WIVB) – An early morning shooting on Buffalo’s east side left one man dead.
    Officials say the victim, a 53-year-old male was struck by gunfire just before 5:30 on the 100 block of Dutton Avenue.
    He was transported to ECMC where he later died.

    French Creek, N.Y. (WIVB) — One snowmobiler is dead and another is in critical condition after a head-on crash late Saturday.
    Chautauqua County Sheriff’s Deputies were called to a trail off Conway Road in French Creek around 11:40 p.m.
    Ambulances took both men to hospitals. Matthew Teculver, 28, of Panama, died at the hospital. William Rick, 25, of Union City, Pennsylvania, was brought to Hamot Medical Center where deputies say he is in serious condition.

    BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) — News came Saturday afternoon of the United State Supreme Court Justice Antonin Scalia’s sudden death. Scalia, 79, passed away while on a hunting trip in Texas. Officials are saying he died from natural causes.

    WASHINGTON (AP) — Antonin Scalia, the influential conservative and most provocative member of the Supreme Court, has died. He was 79.
    The U.S. Marshals Service in Washington confirmed Scalia’s death at a private residence in the Big Bend area of West Texas. Spokeswoman Donna Sellers said Scalia had retired the previous evening and was found dead Saturday morning after he did not appear for breakfast.
