    Chautauqua Institution plans still on hold, temporary restraining order extended
    MAYVILLE, N.Y. (WIVB) — Plans to reconstruct a decaying Amphitheater on the beloved Chautauqua Institution are still on hold after a New York Supreme Court extended a temporary restraining order against construction.
    With plans for a $40 million project to reconstruct underway, leaders of the institution were taken aback when detractors filed a lawsuit in Supreme Court asking for the project to be halted. Since then, the project’s validity has been under question in court.

    BPD arrests woman for allegedly setting fatal October 2015 fire on Curtiss St.
    BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) — Homicide detectives were on the scene of a fatal fire in October of 2015, but the fruits of their labor were only made public Monday in 2016.
    Police confirmed they arrested a suspect in connection with the fire, which killed two people on Curtiss Street on Saturday, Oct. 10. Several people escaped the building as it burned, but 58-year-old Edward Hughes and 64-year-old James Hodges perished during the blaze.

    SAN FRANCISCO (AP) — “Thursday Night Football” will air on both CBS and NBC next season.

    CAMBRIA, N.Y. (WIVB) — A barn that also acted as a garage in Niagara County was destroyed after a fire early Monday morning.

    Man sentenced to 29 years for purse snatching in Rochester
    ROCHESTER, N.Y. (AP) — A western New York purse snatcher has been sentenced to at least 29 years in prison for attacks that injured a 94-year-old woman and another victim.
    Adam Thomas, 30, was sentenced in Rochester Friday after being convicted of robbery in November.
    Prosecutors say Thomas was on probation for attempted robbery when he attacked at least three women and took their purses in 2013 and 2015. Two of the women were injured during the robberies.
