    WASHINGTON (AP) — The latest on the blizzard slamming a large swath of the United States (all times local):
    1:55 p.m.
    Authorities say a Kentucky transportation worker has died while plowing snow-covered highways, bringing the total number of deaths from the massive snowstorm hitting the U.S. to at least 11.
     The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet says in a statement that Christopher Adams died Saturday in Christian County.

    SPRINGVILLE, N.Y. (WIVB) — A Hamburg man was arrested for DWI when police found him searching for his puppy after a crash.
    Police say 50-year-old Douglas Coble lost control of his vehicle and rolled it into a snowbank while travelling on Route 219. Coble continued driving before returning to the scene to look for his German Shepherd puppy that had been ejected from the truck.

    FREDONIA, N.Y. (WIVB) — Police are investigating the death of a Georgia woman after her body was found inside a snow covered car Friday afternoon.
    The woman has been identified as 49-year-old Darlene Depto of Adairsville, Georgia. Her vehicle was located in the rear parking lot of a McDonald’s on Main Street in Fredonia and appeared to have been there for an extended period of time.

    RICHMOND, Va. (WRIC) — Virginia State Police say troopers were extremely busy on Friday. As we wake up to another day of snow and frigid temperatures, police are asking drivers to avoid travel on Virginia highways.
    “Winds have now picked up causing snow to drift and pile up across interstates and primary routes, which make driving even more dangerous,” police said in an update sent out Saturday morning.

    NEW YORK (AP) — Gov. Andrew Cuomo has declared a state of emergency as a massive storm blankets New York with up to two feet of snow.
    Cuomo says New Yorkers should stay inside Saturday and avoid driving.
    He says there are no plans to shut New York City subways, Metro-North or the Long Island Rail Road but service may be curtailed.

    Some areas in the Washington metro area woke up to nearly two feet of snow Saturday morning as a menacing winter storm bore down on the region and barreled east.
     In Silver Spring, Maryland, about 20 inches of snow was measured outside by daybreak. Lightning flashed and thundersnow rumbled after 6 a.m. Thick snow continued to fall steadily in light wind.

    BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) — Police in Kenmore are on the hunt for a man who robbed a convenience store on Wednesday.
