    BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB)- Governor Andrew Cuomo has announced new security measures at Planned Parenthood clinics across the state.
    New York State Police began increased patrols at facilities on Friday. Officers will visit more than 60 locations statewide starting on Monday “to assist with security and emergency planning measures”.

    Police investigating fatal pedestrian accident in Derby
    DERBY, N.Y. (WIVB) — A female pedestrian was struck by a vehicle in front of Tops Market on Route 5 Friday evening.
    The incident happened just after 7 p.m. and closed Route 5 between NettleCreek Drive and Minuteman Trail for 3 hours.
    Police say the female was transported to ECMC where she died from her injuries. Her identity is not yet being released.
    Police say the driver of the vehicle involved is cooperating with the investigation.

    HAMBURG, N.Y. (WIVB)- When is ‘cold’ not cold enough in Buffalo? When ice carvers from around the country come to compete.
    The Great Lakes International Ice Carving Competition kicked off Friday afternoon at the Hamburg Fairgrounds. The milder than usual temperatures outside forced organizers to bring in large cooling systems to keep the ice from melting.
