    BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) — A huge demand for hearing clinics helped encourage an upgrade at the Buffalo VA to be able to perform specialized procedures, including cochlear implant surgery.
    Congressman Brian Higgins and Buffalo VA leaders unveiled Friday the newly renovated Ear, Nose and Throat Clinic that cost more than $3.5 million to renovate. The money will likely be well spent as more than 10,000 vets visited the clinic and needed over 3,200 hearing aids in 2015 alone.

    LACKAWANNA, N.Y. (WIVB) — Groups marched against zombies in Lackawanna but the zombies were an unlikely foe — abandoned homes.
    The homes, not abandoned by choice, are reportedly blamed on banks that don’t take care of the homes after they foreclose upon the homeowners, forcing them out of their dwellings.

    AMHERST, N.Y. (WIVB) — Family and friends came together to remember Judy Chick and to honor her hard work that changed the face of Amherst.
    Chick battled in Washington with leaders to knock out barriers and create the Ellicott Creek Bridge and 5.2-mile bike path for all to enjoy. Chick’s battle began in 1985 when a disastrous flood in Ellicott Creek damaged homes in the area, including Chick’s home.

    BUFFALO, N.Y. (AP) — Ryan O’Reilly had a goal and two assists, rookie goaltender Linus Ullmark got his first NHL win and the Buffalo Sabres beat the Philadelphia Flyers 3-1 Friday night.

    Officers rushed to the 1200 block of Fillmore Avenue where a volley of gunshots rang out, by two gunmen who fled on foot. One man, who sat in the passenger side of the vehicle, rushed to the hospital in a private vehicle. The other occupant of the car succumbed to his injuries.
    Police have not yet released the names of either victims.
