    BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) — As residents of South Carolina attempt to recover from historic floods, they’re being helped out by generous volunteers with the Red Cross program.
    Officials with the Red Cross announced six western New York volunteers who offered their aid in South Carolina on Wednesday. Those volunteers helped 300 displaced South Carolina residents without places to sleep, and helped hundreds other with food and relief shelters.

    Police say on Sept. 17, 36-year-old Adam Rupeka flew his drone over the New York State Capitol Building in Albany and crashed it into the chimney. Following investigation, police say they learned Rupeka flew the drone, and they arrested him on Oct. 1.

    Standoff situation ends peacefully near downtown Buffalo
    BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) – Buffalo Police responded to the scene of a standoff at McCarley Gardens apartment complex in Buffalo, near the end of the 33 expressway. The call came in around 9:30 Wednesday morning.
    A 25-year-old man held himself up alone inside one of the apartments, possibly with a knife. Police described the man as “distraught”.
    SWAT officers responded to the scene as well as the Crisis Management Team and an ambulance, on standby. At about 11:22 a.m.

    AUSTINTOWN TWP, Ohio (WKBN) – A man in Ohio told police he got too high from marijuana.
    Officers found the young man curled up on the ground and groaning Friday afternoon. Austintown, OH police say he seemed highly intoxicated, but not in danger of over-dosing.
    Police say he was surrounded by Doritos, Goldfish crackers and Chips Ahoy cookies and complained he couldn’t feel his hands.

    SYRACUSE, N.Y. (WIVB) – She said it gives her new perspective on how soon a life can be cut short.
    Louise Anderson, a graduate of Holy Angels Academy, who grew up in Lancaster, was on American Airlines Flight 550 Monday morning when the pilot suffered a fatal heart attack, and the co-pilot had to make an emergency landing in Syracuse.
