• Angela Davis speaks for first time in Birmingham since Civil Rights Institute’s fiasco

    By Erica WrightThe Birmingham TimesDr. Angela Davis returned home to Birmingham today to speak publicly for the first time since the city’s Civil Rights Institute rescinded an award to her that caused an international outcry.
    Davis spoke during a morning press conference at Tuggle Elementary School which she attended while growing up in Birmingham. The conference was ahead of her public address later that night at the Boutwell Auditorium.

  • UAB student selected for prestigious national fellowship

    By Yvonne TauntonUAB NewsAfter a week of interviews in legislative offices on Capitol Hill, Sandra Cutts, a University of Alabama at Birmingham School of Engineering doctoral candidate, has been selected as one of 60 students to be a 2019 John A. Knauss Marine Policy fellow.
