• Firefighters rescue 3 from home along Fernwood Drive after tree falls on house

  BATON ROUGE - First responders helped three people out of a home on Fernwood Drive that was damaged when a tree fell on top of it. According to the Baton Rouge Fire Department, the tree fell around 5 p.m. An hour and a half later, three people had been rescued by firefighters and were uninjured. Officials are asking for people to avoid Fernwood Drive while firefighters survey the property and the Red Cross helps the displaced residents. Permalink| Comments

  BATON ROUGE - At least one person was badly hurt in a reported structure collapse as severe weather passed through East Baton Rouge late Monday afternoon. Authorities said they were called to 84 Lumber along S Choctaw Drive around 5 p.m. Monday, shortly after the Baton Rouge area was hit by strong winds and heavy rains.  One person was taken to a hospital with serious injuries, sources said. The extent of the collapse and the cause of it were unclear as of around 5:20
