• Inland waterways in Ascension to close Monday due to heavy debris

    ASCENSION PARISH- Officials have announced the closure of all inland waterways on Monday.According to the Ascension Parish Government, all inland waterways will close beginning 6:00 a.m. Monday, January 29, due to excessive amounts of floating debris as a result of recent heavy rain.Authorities have not said when the waterways will be reopened. Permalink| Comments

    SOUTH EUCLID, Ohio - An Ohio family has given 30 student-athletes free heart screenings in honor of their son who died from an undiagnosed heart condition after hockey practice.  Cleveland.com reports the 4Alec Foundation was named after Alec Kornet and hosted screenings for athletes from Brush High School's hockey and basketball teams.   • State police: 5 killed in shooting at Pennsylvania car wash

    MELCROFT, Pa. - State police say at least five people were killed in a shooting at a Pennsylvania car wash.  WPXI-TV reports the shooting occurred around 2:45 a.m. Sunday in Melcroft.  Melcroft is about 55 miles southeast of Pittsburgh.  The victims were identified only as three men and two women. At least one other person was wounded and was taken to a hospital, but further details on that person's condition were not immediately released.&a

    BATON ROUGE - A 27-year-old Memphis man is in custody on the charge of violating the anti-skimming act.Authorities say Costinel Matei was part of an organized ring that committed multiple skimming and credit card cloning crimes throughout south Louisiana.
