    BALTIMORE (WJZ) — Baltimore City’s recycling collection sites extended their hours on Tuesday.
    This comes as trash and recycling are not routinely being picked up because of the impact the COVID-19 pandemic is having on the Baltimore City Department of Public Works.
    “I share your frustration that we are not where we should be or where I want us to be,” Baltimore City Department of Public Works Acting Director Matthew Garbak said.

    ANNAPOLIS, Md. (WJZ) — A 30-year-old Curtis Bay man has been sentenced to 20 years in prison for hitting and killing a married couple in Anne Arundel County last year, the county state’s attorney’s office said.
    Judge William Mulford, II, sentenced Brandon Wyrobek to the maximum ten years in prison on each of two counts of negligent manslaughter. Wyrobek pleaded guilty on Monday.

    Smoke From West Coast Wildfires Reaches Baltimore, East Coast Creating Hazy Skies
    BALTIMORE (WJZ) — If you noticed something hazy in the sky Tuesday morning, your eyes aren’t playing tricks on you.
    Smoke from the wildfires raging up and down the West Coast has now made it all the way across the country to the East Coast thanks to the jet stream.
    WJZ Meteorologist Tim Williams said the haze could remain in the Baltimore area for a couple of days since there isn’t any rain to break it up.

    Shakira Shaw Charged In 2019 Death Of 1-Year-Old Son
    BALTIMORE (WJZ) — A 22-year-old woman was charged Monday in the 2019 death of her 1-year-old son.
    The Baltimore City Fire Department transported an infant, Kaleb Shaw, to Johns Hopkins on Dec. 28, 2019 at 7:30 p.m. He died a short time later.
    An autopsy initially determined the baby died of natural causes. Then in Aug. 2020, the baby’s mother, Shakira Shaw, called authorities and said she suffocated her son back in December 2019.
