    WASHINGTON (WJZ) — U.S. Senators Ben Cardin and Chris Van Hollen, and Congressman Dutch Ruppersberger and John Sarbanes announced Wednesday the award of $748,976 for Baltimore’s Public Housing Agencies through the federal Department of Housing and Urban Development Veterans Affairs Supportive Housing program.
    The HUD-VASH program combines rental assistance for homeless veterans with case management and clinical services provided by the Department of Veterans Affairs.

    FedEx Truck Carjacked In Baltimore
    BALTIMORE (WJZ) — Police in Baltimore are investigating after a FedEx truck was carjacked Tuesday afternoon.
    Police say they received a call around 3:26 p.m. in the 700 block of Mt. Holly for the report of a carjacking of a FedEx truck.
    The vehicle was recovered around a short time later in the 4100 block of Mountwood.
    This comes a day after an Amazon truck was stolen in northeast Baltimore.

    Excessive Cold Prompts Opening Of Warming Centers In Anne Arundel County
    ANNAPOLIS, Md. (WJZ) — Anne Arundel County announced Tuesday that it will open its warming centers until Friday in response to extremely cold forecasted temperatures.
    Warming Centers will be open from 9 p.m. Tuesday until 9 a.m. Friday. The National Weather Service is forecasting temperatures in the low 20s with wind chill values in the teens.
    Anne Arundel County Public Libraries will designate the following libraries as warming centers from 9 a.m. until 9 p.m. Wednesday and Thursday.

    BALTIMORE (WJZ) — A World War II veteran from right here in Baltimore is celebrating his 109th birthday Thursday!
    Sergeant Ezra Hill said that he is thankful for everyone in his life.
    “I want to thank Dr. May whose one of the greatest, and I want to thank all of the doctors who prepared this day in making me 109,” Hill said.
