• ‘Trained To Go’ Gang Member Sentenced To 35 Years In Prison

    BALTIMORE (WJZ) — A member of a violent gang was sentenced Friday to 35 years in prison for conspiring to participate in a drug distribution conspiracy and racketeering, the justice department said.
    Dennis “Denmo” Pulley, 31, was found guilty at trial of taking part in the racketeering conspiracy, which included eight murders and witness intimidation, among other things.

    CAPITOL HEIGHTS, Md. (WJZ) — The Prince George’s County Police Department is investigating after a fatal pedestrian collision in Capitol Heights.
    Police were called to the 1200 block of Marblewood Ave. around 11:40 p.m. on Thursday for a welfare check.
    The responding officers found Calvin Williams, 47, of Laurel, unresponsive in the roadway with injuries consistent with being struck by a vehicle.

    BALTIMORE (WJZ) — A man who committed a violent, near-fatal, carjacking in Baltimore was sentenced to life plus 65 years Friday.
    Roderick King was convicted in July of attempted first-degree murder, first-degree assault, armed carjacking, armed robbery, use of a firearm in a crime of violence, and related charges.

    WINDSOR MILL, Md. (WJZ) — Baltimore County police are searching for a man wanted in the armed robbery of an Exxon gas station in Windsor Mill.
    The armed robbery occurred on Aug. 5 around 9 p.m. Police said the suspect entered the Exxon at 1601 Belmont Avenue and threatened the gas station clerk with a knife. He demanded cash then fled on foot.

  • Baltimore County Gets Nearly $3M Grant To Hire More Firefighters

    BALTIMORE COUNTY, Md. (WJZ) — Baltimore County has received a nearly $3 million federal grant to hire more than two dozen new firefighters next year, the county said Friday.
    The $2.7 million SAFER grant from FEMA will allow the county to hire 28 new firefighters and support the department’s growth in Sparrows Point, spurred by residential and economic growth at Tradepoint Atlantic and the surrounding area.
    The county said it will provide an additional $1.7 million in matching funds.
