• October Marks The Start Of Fall Trout Stocking

    MARYLAND (WJZ) — The Maryland Department of Natural Resources will stock trout in various lakes, streams and rivers around Maryland in early October.
    Maryland DNR said trout stocking is limited during the fall due to water temperature and weather fluxations as some streams have seasonal restrictions and regulations.
    A majority of the stocking comes from the Albert Powell Hatchery in Hagerstown where trout eggs are hatched and maintained by staff.

    TOWSON, MD. (WJZ) —  In addition to the original seven, three more MS-13 gang members have been arrested and charged in the death of a man whose body was found near a Towson apartment building in July, bringing the total charged to 10 people.
    Daniel Alejandro Alvarado Cuellar’s body was found July 31 in the 8400 block of Loch Raven Boulevard.

    SILVER SPRING, Md. (WJZ) — Montgomery County Police arrested 21-year-old Dedric Owens for an alleged violent assault at a Silver Spring Marshalls last week.
    Officials said Owens is charged with theft and second-degree-assault after he stole items from the Marshalls inside the Ellsworth Place mall Thursday.

  • GM Recalls Nearly 3.8M Pickups, SUVs To Fix Brake Issues

    DETROIT (AP) — Under pressure from the federal government, General Motors is recalling nearly 3.8 million big pickup trucks and SUVs in the U.S and Canada to fix a brake problem.
    There have been 113 reports of crashes and 13 injuries related to the problem, according to GM.

    FREDERICK, MD. (WJZ) — Officers are investigating a fatal collision from Tuesday night in Frederick.
    At around 5:40 p.m., officers and fire rescue personnel responded to the area of Dogwood Drive and Stratford Way for a report of a collision between a passenger car and a moped.
    The driver of the moped, Vernon Jackson Jr., 53, of Frederick, was taken to an area hospital where he died from his injuries.
