    FAIRFAX, VA. (WJZ) — The body found at Great Falls Park in Virginia has been identified, police said Tuesday afternoon.
    The 77-year-old man was identified as Russell Larkin was pronounced dead on the scene. He had been reported missing previously by Fairfax County Police.
    His body was found Saturday at around 9:45 a.m., after a kayaker saw the body and reported it to United States Park Police.

    COLUMBIA, Md. (WJZ) — Police are investigating a report of a 16-year-old teenage male who was injured with a single gunshot wound over the weekend.
    Police responded to the 7400 block of Sweet Clover on August 24 at around 11:01 p.m. for a report of a shooting.
    The victim was inside the home with known acquaintances when the incident occurred.

    WASHINGTON (WJZ) — The Coast Guard’s 2018 recreational boating statistics report paints a mixed picture of boating safety in Maryland, with the number of deaths increasing from the previous year but the number of overall crashes decreasing.
    Sixteen people died in 13 crashes on Maryland waterways in 2018, the report said, up significantly from six deaths in 2017 but similar to the four years prior to that.

    PRINCESS ANNE, Md. (AP) — The University of Maryland Eastern Shore has been awarded a $387,500 grant to support scientific research.
    Rep. Andy Harris made the announcement Monday.
    The funds were awarded by the National Institute of General Medical Sciences. That’s an office under the Department of Health and Human Services.
