• Johns Hopkins University To Get Two-Thirds Of Electricity From Solar Power

    BALTIMORE (AP) — Johns Hopkins University says it has reached a long-term agreement to get about two-thirds of the university’s electricity from solar power.
    The university announced on Monday a 15-year agreement with Baltimore-based energy company Constellation, a subsidiary of Exelon.
    It will begin in 2021.
    Under the agreement, Johns Hopkins campuses would receive more than 250,000 megawatt-hours of solar power a year.

    FREDERICK, Md. (WJZ) — A 36-year-old Monrovia man pled guilty Monday to four counts of possession of child pornography.
    Joshua David Scalera received a total sentence of 20 years in the Maryland Division of Corrections, with all but 18 months suspended.That sentence began Monday, officials said.

  • White Marsh Firefighters Rescue Ducklings From Storm Drain

    WHITE MARSH, Md. (WJZ) — The White Marsh Volunteer Fire Company is being praised for an unusual rescue mission.
    Several fire crews came together to rescue a family of ducklings from a storm drain Sunday.
    Crews said the family of 12 somehow got trapped underground.
    All 12 ducklings were pulled out safely and waddled away to enjoy the rest of their day after being freed.

    ARLINGTON COUNTY, Md. (WJZ) — In Northern Virginia, an armed robbery suspect is in custody after leading police on a chase before crashing his car into the Potomac River.
    It happened in Arlington County Sunday afternoon. Police said the suspect robbed a store on Columbia Pike and took off.
    Authorities sped after the man until he lost control and crashed into the water a short time after.

    BALTIMORE (WJZ) — The U.S. is inching closer to an unwelcome record- there are now more than 600 measles cases reported.
    Four of those cases are in Maryland.
