• Guinness To Stop Using Plastics In Multipacks

    BALTIMORE (WJZ) — Guinness is getting rid of plastic-ring packaging for their beer cans.
    The company said it will also stop using shrink-wrap for beer multi-packs.
    Instead, it will switch to 100 percent recyclable and bio-degradable cardboard.
    The sustainable beer packs are expected to first appear this August in Ireland.
    The new packaging will be introduced in other markets in Summer 2020.

  • Md. Medical Cannabis Companies Have Until End Of September To Open Doors Before Revoking Their Licenses

    BALTIMORE (WJZ) — State regulators are giving medical cannabis companies until the end of September to open their doors or have their licenses to operate revoked.
    The Medical Cannabis Commission is also advising companies to complete their final inspections by mid-August.
    Most of the 76 dispensaries in Maryland have already opened.
    Officials said 26 other companies are in the pre-approval stage.

    HAMPSTEAD, Md. (WJZ) — Hampstead came together in prayer after an apparent animal abuse case in Carroll County killed more than two dozen dogs.

    About two dozen people prayed for the 54 dogs who endured severe neglect and abuse on a Hampstead property.

    TOWSON, Md. (WJZ) — Baltimore County taxes pay for a lot of services from first responder to funding the 25th largest school system in the country to keeping roads open in winter.

    SYKESVILLE, Md. (WJZ) — A man was arrested Saturday after allegedly discharging a crossbow at another male victim.
    Police said around 2:30 a.m. the victim arrived in the 6600 block of Monroe Avenue in Sykesville. He then began to verbally threaten David Martin, 32, and his juvenile daughter who live at that address.
