    ANNAPOLIS, MD. (WJZ) — Gov. Larry Hogan released his supplemental budget for fiscal year 2020, saving $27 million in general funds.
    It also funds several important state and local initiatives.
    The University of Maryland will see a nearly $3 million increase in funding to retain top talent, and $250,000 is provided for a public alert system in Ellicott City following two historic floods in recent years.

  • Rare $1,000 Bill Sold For 1.92M At Baltimore Auction

    BALTIMORE (WJZ) — A rare, $1,000 bill was auctioned off here in Baltimore, and it fetched a near record amount.
    The 1891 bill, called a Marcy Note, is one of only two known in existence, according to Stack’s Bowers Galleries, which auctioned the bill.
    It sold for $1.92 million to a private buyer during an auction Friday.
    The only other known Marcy Note is housed at the Smithsonian Institution’s National Museum of American History.

    Charles County Parks and Recreation posted a picture of one of the Eagles intensely watching their eggs.
    The eagles, Chandler and Hope, laid their eggs 35 days ago. Officials said they should begin to see the eggs cracking soon!

    (CBS13/CBS Local) – Southwest Airlines is now selling flights from California to Hawaii.
    The Dallas-based airline will start flights from Oakland to Honolulu on March 17, then Oakland to Maui on April 7. Flights from San Jose to Honolulu will start May 5, and San Jose to Kahului on May 26.

    BALTIMORE COUNTY, Md. (WJZ) — Police in Baltimore County are searching for a missing grandmother and her 4-year-old granddaughter.
    They were last seen leaving a funeral in the 2700 block of W North Avenue in Baltimore.
    Tonya Denise Decator, 53, had permission to take her granddaughter, but neither have been seen since March 1.
    Devynne Kharter Smith is 3-foot-5, 32 pounds with green eyes. She was last seen wearing a green coat and multi-colored pants.

    Police received a call at 7:30 a.m. Monday after a female pit bull was located dead under a trash bag in the area of Old Mill Bottom Road and St. Margaret’s Road.
    The dog’s age is unknown.
    Detectives are investigating the dog’s death.

    WASHINGTON (AP) — Authorities say a man who drove for Uber and Lyft in Washington has been found dead in Delaware, six weeks after he went missing.
    News outlets report that a Metropolitan police spokesman says 43-year-old Musba Behiru Shifa was found dead in Wilmington on Saturday. He was last seen in northwest Washington in late January.
    The circumstances of his death and the discovery of his body were not immediately clear.
