    LANDOVER, Md. (WJZ) — Firefighters responded to an industrial recycling center just south of Cheverly Saturday night for a report of a fire.
    When they arrived in the 5600 block of Columbia Park Road, smoke was showing.
    The fire then extended through the roof of the building.
    Firefighters had to be evacuated from the interior of the building that partially collapsed after 75 percent of the building was on fire.

    MONTGOMERY COUNTY, Md. (AP) — Police in Maryland have arrested a man accused of an armed bank robbery.
    Montgomery County Police say the man entered the Bank of America branch in the Derwood area on Thursday armed with a gun and disguised by a winter hat and scarf.
    Officers say he displayed a handgun and demanded money, leaving with an undisclosed amount of cash.

    BALTIMORE (WJZ) —  Police are investigating after a man was fatally shot in Baltimore Saturday evening.
    Officers were dispatched to the 2400 block of Kermit Court for a reported shooting around 5:38 p.m.
    When they arrived, they found a man suffering from gunshot wounds.
    A medic was summoned and took the man to an area hospital where he was pronounced dead.

  • Firefighter Injured Battling Bowie Blaze, 1 Person Detained

    BOWIE, Md. (WJZ) — A firefighter was burned and a person detained after a home caught fire in Bowie Saturday evening.
    According to Prince George’s County fire officials, firefighters were called to the scene of a single-family home fire in the 2900 block of Brierdale Lane.
    The fire quickly spread through the second floor and attic of the home, leading to firefighters evacuating the building.

    BALTIMORE (AP) — A Maryland firefighter was treated and released after falling through the steps of a burning house.
    The Baltimore Sun reports that firefighters were responding to the house fire Saturday when the firefighter fell through steps leading to the basement.
