• Snow Totaling More Than 8 Inches In Parts Of Maryland, While Snow Continues To Fall

    BALTIMORE (WJZ) — It’s early, but some parts of Maryland already had more than a half a foot of snow.
    WJZ’s Meg McNamara said that parts of Montgomery County saw more than 8 inches of snow. Calvert, Anne Arundel, Frederick, Howard and Carroll counties already have more than 6 inches of snow.

  • Maryland Seafood Business Saves Rare Lobster Received

    SILVER SPRING, Md. (AP) — A seafood distributor wants an extremely rare lobster with a speckled orange and black shell to be viewed by many, rather than enjoyed by just one on a plate.
    Ocean City Seafood of Silver Spring, Maryland, was unloading a shipment from Maine last month when the owner found the rare “calico” lobster. Lobsters usually have dark blue or greenish-brown shells.

    BALTIMORE (WJZ) — A 30-year-old man was fatally shot in Baltimore Sunday afternoon.
    Officers responded to a report of a shooting in the 400 block of Curley Street around 3:22 p.m.
    There they would find  a 30-year-old man unresponsive. He had been shot in the chest.
    The victim was taken to an area hospital where he was pronounced dead.

    WASHINGTON, D.C. (WJZ) — The government shutdown didn’t stop revelers from gathering on the National Mall in Washington D.C. Sunday afternoon for a snowball fight.
    The ‘snurlough’ is what some Maryland and DC residents are calling this winter storm in the midst of many federal government employees being furloughed or working without pay.WUSA9, a DC CBS-affiliate, captured the fight on the mall.

    BALTIMORE (WJZ) — A liquor store employee shot a suspect during an armed robbery in Baltimore Saturday.
    Around 7:29 p.m., officers from Baltimore’s Southeast District responded to the 2300 block of Fleet Street for a report of a shooting.

    WINDSOR MILL, Md. (WJZ) — Baltimore County Police are investigating after a man was found dead Friday night.
    Officers responded to the 7200 block of Bogley Rd. at 9 p.m. for reports of shots fired.

    EDGEWATER, Md. (WJZ) — Fire officials looking for information on a boat fire Friday afternoon in Edgewater.
    Firefighters responded to the Holiday Hill Marina on Calawasse Rd. and found a 35-40 foot boat tied to the pier and engulfed in flames.
    It took 30 minutes for 45 firefighters to contain the fire.
    The 67-year-old owner of the boat was taken to Anne Arundel Medical Center in good condition with a non-related medical emergency.

    BALTIMORE (AP) — Delta Air Lines says a plane had to return to Baltimore-Washington International Thurgood Marshall Airport because of a mechanical issue shortly after takeoff.
    Delta said Flight 2033 bound for Atlanta with 145 passengers landed early Saturday morning at BWI without incident.
