    BALTIMORE (WJZ) — A North Carolina man was sentenced to 9 years in prison Friday after authorities said he traveled to Maryland with the intention of having sex with a young girl.
    The mother of the 15-year-old girl called the FBI on March 2 after discovering that 31-year-old Travis Wilmoth had been using social media to chat online with her daughter.
    Wilmoth served in the United States Air Force from 2007 to 2016 and was serving in the National Guard at the time of his arrest.

  • Woman Injured In West Baltimore Hit-And-Run Crash

    BALTIMORE (WJZ) — Detectives are investigating a hit-and-run crash that occurred on December 4 in West Baltimore.
    At around 8:20 p.m., a black Infinity sedan struck a pedestrian in the 2400 block of Reisterstown Road.
    The pedestrian, a 37-year-old woman, was taken to an area hospital where she is still being treated for her injuries.

    When officers arrived, they found a 37-year-old man with a gunshot wound to his foot.

    (CBS/WJZ) — Doctors at a Baltimore hospital discovered a brain-eating amoeba inside a Seattle woman’s tumor, helping officials figure out what caused her to die.
    The woman told her doctor she had used tap water in a Neti pot, instead of saline or sterile water, CBS affiliate KIRO reports.

    RICHMOND, Va. (AP) — In the year since the Asian longhorned tick was officially spotted in New Jersey, it’s expanded to eight more states, including Maryland and Virginia.
