    COCKEYSVILLE, Md. (WJZ) — Medical marijuana sales in Maryland took off like a rocket, blowing past previous estimates with a potential to reach $100 million this year.
    Chesacana began selling medical cannabis in July in Cockeysville. It expected summer getaways might mean a slow start for sales.

    (CNN) — A survey of parents across the United States estimates that one in 40 children has autism spectrum disorder, according to a study published Monday in the journal Pediatrics.
    In other words, the condition was reported in 2.5% of children, representing an estimated 1.5 million kids ages 3 to 17.
    A report released this year by the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention estimated the prevalence at one in 59 children or about 1.7%, based on 2014 data.

    (CBS News/WJZ) — Vernita Lee, Oprah Winfrey’s mother, has died at the age of 83. A spokeswoman for Winfrey on Monday issued a statement saying Lee died at her Milwaukee home on Nov. 22.

    BALTIMORE (WJZ) — Baltimore Police are investigating a break-in at Dunbar High School over the weekend.
    Crime scene investigators were at the school Monday morning processing the scene.

    BALTIMORE (WJZ) — Baltimore police issued a silver alert for a missing 89-year-old man suffering from Alzheimer’s, Toney Shelton.
    Shelton was last seen Sunday at 6 p.m. in the 5000 block of Plymouth Road where he was driving a 2012 GMC Terrain.
    He was last seen wearing a black and purple “Bmore” baseball hat, black jacket, plaid button-down shirt, blue jeans, and black shoes.

    BALTIMORE (AP/WJZ) — General Motors will lay off 14,700 factory and white-collar workers in North America and put five plants up for possible closure as it restructures to cut costs and focus more on autonomous and electric vehicles.
    The layoffs will affect workers at a propulsion plant just outside Baltimore.

    CUMBERLAND, Md. (AP) — Police have identified a Virginia woman who was killed when she was thrown from a vehicle stuck on railroad tracks in Maryland.
    The Cumberland Times-News reports that 51-year-old Bernarda Bustamante of Alexandria, Virginia, died Saturday evening. Cumberland police say an investigation determined Bustamante’s vehicle misjudged a turn and got stuck on the tracks.

    BALTIMORE (WJZ) — A 49-year-old man is dead and two other men are hospitalized after two separate shootings that happened within hours of each other Sunday afternoon.
    The first shooting happened just before 12:30 p.m., in the 1200 block of East Lanvale St.
