    HOWARD COUNTY, Md. (WJZ) — A serious crash on I-95 in Howard County leaves the highway shut down for parts of Wednesday night.
    Maryland State Police say one person has died, one is injured in this afternoon’s crash. Neither has been identified at this time, and the cause of the crash is unknown.
    The driver, a woman, has been taken to shock trauma with injuries. There is no word on her condition.

    COLLEGE PARK, Md. (AP) — Attorneys for a white man charged with fatally stabbing a black student on the University of Maryland’s campus have asked a judge to throw out a hate crime charge against their client.

  • Video: Car Left Without Roof After Crash With Dump Trunk

    BALTIMORE (WJZ) — An SUV-looking vehicle was left without a roof and barely any structure after colliding with a dump truck in Baltimore Wednesday afternoon.
    The accident was in the 600 block of Patapsco Avenue in South Baltimore.
    Chopper 13 was over the wreck Wednesday where you could see what was left of the vehicle in the roadway.
    Skid marks could be seen on the roadway.

    BALTIMORE (WJZ) — A man was sentenced Wednesday for combining, conspiring, confederating and agreeing to possess with intent to distribute and to distribute 100 grams or more of heroin.
    Tony Washington, 33, of Baltimore, was sentenced to 14 years in prison, followed by eight years of supervised release. He was convicted in July 2018, on the sole charge of possession with intent to distribute heroin after a two-week trial.

  • Man Pleads Guilty To Using Hidden Cameras To Record Kids In Bathrooms

    BALTIMORE (WJZ) — A 55-year-old Maryland man is set for sentencing after admitting to secretly filming children using hidden cameras in bathrooms.
    Jonathan Mark Oldale pleaded guilty to federal charges of production and possession of child pornography, according to a release from the U.S. Attorney’s Office.
    As part of the plea agreement, Oldale will be sentenced to between 15 and 25 years in prison. His sentencing is set for April 1, 2019.

    BALTIMORE (AP) — Baltimore’s police union has announced that members have accepted a new labor agreement with the city that will increase civilian oversight of the troubled police department.
    The Baltimore Sun reports rank-and-file members voted Tuesday to accept the proposed agreement. Mayor Catherine Pugh and City Solicitor Andrew Davis called the vote a victory for both sides.

    (CNN) — Hate crime incidents reported to the FBI increased by about 17% last year compared to 2016, according to statistics released Tuesday by the FBI.

    BALTIMORE (AP) — A Maryland man arrested on a trespassing charge has been found dead in his holding cell.
