    CARROLL CO., Md. (WJZ) — A 43-year-old woman is dead after being struck by a vehicle Friday night.
    The Carroll County Sheriff’s Office reports the crash happened just before 8 p.m., on Route 140 near Center St. in Westminster.

    MT. AIRY, Md. (WJZ) — Maryland State Police are investigating a fatal pedestrian crash Friday evening in Howard County.
    Shortly before 6:45 p.m., troopers responded on a report that a pedestrian was struck on eastbound I-70 in the area of Howard County/Carroll County line in Mount Airy, Md.

    BALTIMORE (WJZ) — The U.S. Geological Survey updated its volcano threat assessments for the first time since 2005.
    Of the 161 active volcanos in the U.S., 18 are being classified as a “very high threat,”.
    Mount Shasta’s in California is of particular concern because its hazards zone covers about 9,500 square miles.
    Experts said more than 100,000 people live or work in that area.

  • 22-Year-Old Man Killed In NW Baltimore Shooting

    BALTIMORE (WJZ) — A 22-year-old man has died after a report of a shooting in Northwest Baltimore.
    Officers responded to the 1700 block of Ashburton Street at around 6:55 p.m. Friday night.
    When they arrived, they found the 22-year-old victim suffering from gunshot wounds to the chest.
    He was taken to an area hospital where he was pronounced dead.
