    WASHINGTON (WJZ) — Shots were fired outside a Fox station in Washington D.C. Monday afternoon after a man tried to break into the TV station.
    The shooting occurred along Wisconsin Avenue in Friendship Heights just after 3 p.m.DC police said the female security guard fired her gun at the 38-year-old man after he tried to kick his way into the building, smashing through the glass front door.

  • MD Man, Former Teacher Admits To Sexually Abusing Middle Schoolers

    WASHINGTON (AP) — A man who admitted to sexually abusing seventh- and eighth-grade girls while working as a charter-school math teacher in the nation’s capital has been sentenced to nearly 12 years in prison.
    News outlets report 33-year-old Robert Leach, of Maryland, told the court Friday that God has since changed his life.
    Prosecutors say Leach groomed and abused the children between 2010 and 2013 until he was caught by a parent and fled the country.

    TIMONIUM, Md,. (WJZ) — Several businesses were evacuated in Lutherville-Timonium after a gas line break Monday afternoon.
    According to Baltimore County Emergency Management, the gas line break occurred in the 2000 block of York Road between Crowther Avenue and Belfast Road.

    BALTIMORE, Md. (WJZ) — A man was arrested on Friday for driving under the influence after police found 1.5 pounds of weed in his car.

  • Elkton Woman Found Dead With ‘Trauma To Body’ Inside Her Home

    ELKTON, Md. (WJZ) — A 60-year-old woman was found dead inside her Cecil County home Sunday morning.
    Karen Johnston Colcough, of Elkton, was found dead inside her home in the 500 block of Augustine Herman Highway after family went to go check on her after they hadn’t heard from her.

    LINTHICUM, Md. (WJZ) — A North Carolina man caught with a loaded handgun in his carry-on bag at BWI Airport over the weekend.

    (CNN) — Crowds of migrants resumed their long journey north on Sunday from the Mexican border city of Ciudad Hidalgo, according to Mexican federal police officers.

  • 4 Americans, 1 Tour Guide Killed In Costa Rican Raft Accident

    (CNN) — Four Americans and a Costa Rican tour guide died Saturday after their recreational rafts overturned on the Naranjo River in Costa Rica.
    Luis Guzman, a Costan Rican official of the Red Cross, told CNN en Espanol that three rafts carrying 18 people overturned. Thirteen people survived by holding on to the overturned rafts but five were pulled further down the river.

    FAIRFAX, Va. (WJZ) — We’ve heard of firefighters rescuing cats from trees. But how about them rescuing a dog from a ceiling?
    That’s what happened Saturday night in Fairfax County.
    A crew from Engine 427 in West Springfield came to the rescue of a pup trapped in an HVAC duct in a home.
    It took the crew some time to figure out the dog’s location — then they proceeded to cut the dog out of the basement ceiling.
