    BALTIMORE CO., Md. (WJZ) — The Baltimore County Police Department is asking for the public’s help to identify a suspect who may be responsible for several burglaries in Essex.

  • School Employee Arrested On Child Sexual Abuse Charges

    ANNAPOLIS, Md. (WJZ) — Police have arrested a school employee who they say sexually abused a child over a five month period.
    Mark Thoms, 38, faces several charges, including sexual abuse of a minor and sexual solicitation of a minor.
    The investigation into Thoms began in April, when authorities were told about the alleged abuse.
    The victim said the sexual abuse happened several times between November 2017 and March 2018 at a home in Annapolis.

    WHITE HALL, Md. (WJZ) — A 16-year-old died Tuesday after he tried to catch up to his school bus.
    Police and EMS responded the 4400 block of Norrisville Road shortly after 6:30 a.m. when the call came in for a pedestrian struck.

  • Man Grazed By Bullet In Shooting Overnight

    BALTIMORE, Md. (WJZ) — A man was grazed by a bullet overnight Tuesday in Southeast Baltimore.
    Baltimore Police officers arrived at 12:24 a.m. to the 400 block of North Linwood Avenue for a reported shooting.
    There they found a 29-year-old man with a grazed shoulder wound. The man was then taken to an area hospital for treatment.

  • Teen Found Guilty Of Murdering 14-Year-Old In Drug Deal Gone Wrong

    HYATTSVILLE, Md. (WJZ) — A Hyattsville teen has been convicted in the 2017 shooting death of a 14-year-old boy following a drug deal that went wrong.
    Melvin Jacome, 16, was found guilty of first-degree murder and additional charges in the death of Xavier Young, according to the Howard County State’s Attorney’s Office. He is set to be sentenced on December 6.

    The Pennsylvania House Judiciary Committee voted in favor of a bill that would downgrade penalties for possession of under 30 grams of marijuana from a third-degree misdemeanor to a summary offense that would allow up to a $300 fine and no jail time.

    Police say they were called to the 2000 block of Kennedy Ave. for an unresponsive 9-year-old Monday morning.

    BALTIMORE CO., Md. (WJZ) — A murder investigation in Virginia crosses state lines and ends in a police chase when two arrests were made in Baltimore County.
    Police say Melissa Joyce Moen and Christopher Levar Cox will now be sent to face a judge in Virginia. Both were arrested in Essex on Friday after leading officers on a 30-minute chase.
