  • Settlement Reached With Family Of 9-Year-Old Girl Killed During Police Pursuit

    BALTIMORE (WJZ) — The City is expected to settle with the family of a young girl struck and killed while police pursued a teenager in a stolen Jeep last June.
    9-year-old Amirah Kinlaw was walking home from school in West Baltimore when she was hit in June 2016.
    Several other people were also hurt.
    Amirah’s mother filed a lawsuit, claiming the officer violated departmental rules during the pursuit.
    The City is expected to settle for $30,000.

  • Maryland Governor Announces New Parental Leave Policy

    ANNAPOLIS, Md. (AP) — Maryland state employees will have an additional 60 days of paid leave after the birth or adoption of a child under 6.
    Gov. Larry Hogan announced Tuesday he will introduce legislation to create tax credits to encourage small businesses to provide parental benefits.
    The new paid parental leave benefit is part of legislation the governor signed this year. Currently, parents can use up to 30 days of sick leave.
