• New Md. Law Would Empower Families To Flag Gun Owners

    BALTIMORE (WJZ) — A new gun law in Maryland is aiming to reduce gun violence, and it is set to go into effect October 1.
    Under the new law, family members or law enforcement can seek a court hearing to have guns removed from the home of people who they believe are at risk of hurting themselves or others.
    It also allows for individuals believed to be a threat, be placed into the background check system.

  • Bike Lanes In Downtown Annapolis May Sacrifice Some Parking

    ANNAPOLIS (WJZ) — Bike lanes are coming to Annapolis, but it may cost drivers some parking spots to do so.
    The city will install a temporary bike lane on Main Street and remove parking from one side of downtown for a month.
    The $100,000 project will launch September 16.
    In addition to the five-foot bike path the city will also install temporary 4-feet wide sidewalk platforms for additional seating for dining visitors.

    BALTIMORE (WJZ) — It’s not even fall yet, but already there are rumors swirling that it could be a whopper of a winter.
    The Farmer’s Almanac released its predictions, and forecasters said it appears it may be a very long, cold and snow-filled winter.

  • Maryland Ranks 12th Hardest-Working State In Country

    BALTIMORE (WJZ) — While Maryland may be famous for its seafood, hard-working residents in the old line state are also getting some recognition.
    According to Wallet Hub, Marland is the 12th hardest-working state in the country.
    Researchers looked at factors such as average workweek hours, commute time and workers committed to their jobs to rank each state. Alaska was ranked the number one hardest-working state in the nation.

    (CNN) — One person has died and 16 others have become ill from a salmonella outbreak linked to kosher chicken, the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention said Wednesday.

  • Water Search Ends, 12-Year-Old Girl Drowns At Sandy Point State Park

    ANNAPOLIS (WJZ) — The search for a 12-year-old girl who went missing off the beach in Sandy Point Park Tuesday ended with her body recovered Tuesday night after 11 p.m.
    Maryland Natural Resources Police identify her as Kaniya Kenly, of Baltimore. She was one of 15 people at a group outing.
