• Maryland Joins Sex-Offender Registry Program

    HAGERSTOWN, Md. (AP) — Maryland is joining a sex-offender registry program that law enforcement officials say will make it more efficient to share records.
    The Herald-Mail reported Sunday that Maryland became the 17th state to join OffenderWatch last week. A statewide contract will allow every sheriff’s office, participating police departments and the Department of Public Safety and Correctional Services to use the technology.

    ANNAPOLIS, Md. (AP) — Maryland Gov. Larry Hogan has ordered flags lowered to half-staff to honor U.S. Sen. John McCain, who has died after battling brain cancer for more than a year.

    EDGEMERE, Md. (WJZ) — Two children were rescued from the water at North Point State Park on Sunday morning.
    According to Baltimore County Fire, EMS was called to the scene around 10 a,m. after two children were yelling for help while on inner tubes.
    The children were rescued and transported to a local hospital for treatment for non-life threatening injuries.
    No other injuries were reported.

    COLUMBIA (WJZ) — A day at the pool takes a turn after a fire breaks out at a neighborhood center in Columbia.
    The incident happened at the Happy Sprouts Learning Center on Tamar Drive.
    Officials said that smoke was showing from the utility room and the pool was evacuated as a precaution.
