    (CNN) — Heavy rains sent water spilling over a dam in Lynchburg, Virginia, spurring fears that it could collapse and prompting some evacuations in the city of roughly 80,000 people.
    In a dire warning Thursday night, the National Weather Service reported the College Lake Dam could fail, and if it does, “the water depth at Lynchburg could exceed 17 feet in 7 minutes.”

    BALTIMORE (WJZ) — Baltimore City is putting new safety measures in place to prevent accidental drownings at the Inner Harbor. That announcement came yesterday, the same day a woman’s body was found floating in the harbor near the USS Constellation.

    BALTIMORE (WJZ) — Police are now investigating the death of a 70-year-old Baltimore woman as a homicide after it was found she was killed by narcotic poisoning.
    The body of Gloria Johnson was found at 6 p.m. on July 13, in the 500 block of E. Preston St.
    Responding officers say her body showed no signs of trauma, but homicide detectives were able to find “information that was pertinent to this case.”
