    ANNAPOLIS, Md. (AP) — Anne Arundel County health officials are seeking anyone who may have come into contact with a rabid fox in Jessup, Maryland.
    The county health department says the fox tested positive for rabies on Friday. The fox was located near Old Jessup Road and Route 175.

    BALTIMORE, MD (WJZ) — The crime wave in Baltimore continued this weekend with six people shot, including one fatally.

  • Baltimore City Police Investigate Early Morning Homicide

    BALTIMORE, MD (WJZ)– Baltimore City Police are investigating after a person was shot to death in the 2100 block of Presbury street.
    Officers were called to the scene in the western district at around 5:15am for reports of gunshots being heard.   When officers arrived they found a 28-year-old man with gunshot wounds to his body.

    ABERDEEN, Md. (WJZ) — Tense moments in Aberdeen.
    Police say a suspect they thought was armed with a knife, charged at officers, forcing one of them to fire shots.
    Hours after the initial press conference, police identified the suspect as 23-year-old Tyler Winkler and say he was actually holding a plastic comb, not a knife, that he was using a shank. They say he was holding the bristled end in his hand and lunged at officers with the sharp, pointed end.

    BALTIMORE (WJZ) — Weeks after being hit with devastating flooding for the second time in just two years, the Howard County Council approves a one-year freeze on development in the areas surrounding Ellicott City.

    (CNN) — Michigan school districts can ban firearms on campus, the state’s Supreme Court ruled Friday.
    State law allows people with concealed firearms permits to bring guns onto school property, but at least two districts enacted policies banning weapons.
    Separate lawsuits were filed by firearm advocacy groups against the Ann Arbor and Clio school districts.

    PROVIDENCE, R.I. (AP) — U.S. senators from New England want to grant the lobster another national day of celebration.

    BURLINGTON, Vt. (AP) — A Vermont airport is displaying 7-foot-tall (2.1-meter-tall) maple syrup jugs to remind travelers they can buy the state staple online instead of losing it at security when their liquids get confiscated.

    An artist in New York quit her day job to make miniature replicas of dogs, so true to life, some mistake them for the real thing.

    MONTGOMERY CO., Md. (WJZ) — A man shot and killed by police during a hostage situation in Montgomery county had a history of domestic violence.
    The Washington Post reports the ex-girlfriend of John Natera-Perez told police last year she needed a restraining order against him.

    BALTIMORE (WJZ) — Pope Francis has accepted the resignation of Theodore McCarrick from College of Cardinals. The 88-year-old led the Archdiocese of Washington until 2006.
    Last month, he announced the Vatican had removed him from public ministry because of decades-old allegations of sexual abuse. He was accused three times of sexual misconduct with adults over the years. He has also been accused of abusing a minor. That case is awaiting trial.
