    WASHINGTON (AP) — A spokeswoman says Democratic Rep. Steny Hoyer of Maryland is being treated at a Washington hospital for pneumonia but is expected to recover quickly.
    Spokeswoman Katie Grant said Wednesday in an emailed statement that the congressman was being treated with antibiotics and resting after being admitted to The George Washington University Hospital a day earlier.

    ANNAPOLIS, Md. (WJZ) — One week after a gunman stormed into the Capital Gazette newsroom and opened fire, killing five people, Governor Larry Hogan wants answers on his last court case.
    Accused killer Jarrod Ramos pleaded guilty to harassment in 2011.
    Gov. Hogan told WTOP radio he doesn’t know why Ramos got a plea deal.
    A stalking charge was lessened to criminal harassment, but the tragic events that happened at the Capital Gazette seven years later center largely on that case.
  • Missing Swimmer Found Safe At Beaver Dam

    COCKEYSVILLE, Md. (WJZ) — Authorities say a missing swimmer in the quarry of beaver Dam swim Club in Cockeysville has been found safe following an extensive search.
    According to BCFD Chief Jay Ringgold the call came in at 2:30 p.m. for an adult male who did not resurface.
    The man was later found safe.
    A dive team arrived at the scene to assist.

    ELLICOTT CITY, Md. (WJZ) — Two people were rescued from the Patapsco River Wednesday afternoon.
    According to Howard County Fire and EMS, the call came in around 1:38 p.m. for a water rescue near the Swinging Bridge in Ellicott City.
    EMS transported the two people to a local hospital for non-life threatening injuries.

     (CNN) — After a young woman’s toenails started to separate from her toes, a doctor finally zeroed in on the reason: a fish pedicure, according to a report published Tuesday in the journal JAMA Dermatology.

    BALTIMORE (WJZ) — Lightning is being blamed for a house fire in Howard County Tuesday.
    Fire crews responded to the fire in the 5200 block of Sweet Meadow Lane in Clarksville around 6:50 p.m.
