  • Baltimore Sells Back Speed Cameras At Bargain-Basement Price

    BALTIMORE (AP) — A company that sold scores of traffic cameras to Baltimore for more than $2 million a few years ago has bought them back for pennies on the dollar.
    In 2013, city officials paid $2.2 million for a fleet of speed cameras from Brekford Corp., which was the city’s traffic camera vendor.
    But after the speed camera system was shut down amid accuracy concerns, city officials decided last year to sell many of the cameras back to Brekford — for $32,000.

  • Maryland House Panel Passes School Safety Measure

    ANNAPOLIS, Md. (AP) — A Maryland House panel has passed a measure to improve school safety.
    The bill approved Saturday by the House Ways and Means Committee would require public high schools to establish plans for the upcoming school year to have either school resource officers or adequate law enforcement coverage.
    Other schools, such as middle and elementary schools, would need to have the plans in place for the school year that begins in 2019.

    Baltimore (WJZ) — Baltimore city police are investigating after two men are gunned down overnight.

    ANNAPOLIS, Md. (AP) — The Maryland Senate unanimously passed a measure Friday that would change how the General Assembly handles sexual harassment complaints.
