• Navy Employee Facing Multiple Child Porn Charges

    BALTIMORE (WJZ) – A Silver Spring man who works for the Navy has been indicted on multiple child pornography charges.
    The Justice Department announced Monday that Spencer Steckman, 34, was charged with three counts of production, transportation and possession of child porn.
    Officials say between Aug. 17 and Sept. 22, 2017, Steckman “enticed a minor to engage in sexually explicit conduct for the purpose of producing child pornography.”

  • Howard County ‘Hamburglar’ Sentenced To 90 Days In Jail

    BALTIMORE (WJZ) — The woman who was caught on camera last year breaking into a Columbia McDonald’s through a drive-thru window has been sentenced.
    Jessica Marie Cross — or as Howard County Police dubbed her, “The Hamburglar” — pleaded guilty to second-degree burglary and received a five-year sentence with a suspended term of 90 days.
    In November 2017, police released a video of the incident which then went viral.

    BALTIMORE (WJZ) — Police are investigating a shooting in West Baltimore Monday afternoon.
    Officers responded to the area of Woodbrook and Bryant Avenues around 4:30 p.m.
    When police arrived, the victim and suspect had already left the area.

    BALTIMORE (WJZ) — A 27-year-old man has died and a 29-year-old man has been injured in a shooting in West Baltimore Monday afternoon.
    Police responded to the 2300 block of Bryant Avenue around 4:40 p.m. for a report of a shooting.

    BALTIMORE (WJZ) — A woman suffered critical injuries after a deer bounced off another vehicle and hit her car in Baltimore County over the weekend.
    Baltimore County Police say the 54-year-old woman was driving on North Point Road near McComas Road in Edgemere around 8:45 p.m. Friday. when another driver hit a deer that went flying onto the woman’s car and broke through the windshield.     COLLEGE PARK, Md. (AP) — Former Vice President Al Gore will deliver the commencement address this spring to graduates at the University of Maryland.
    The school announced Monday that Gore will address the College Park campus May 20 during graduation ceremonies at the Xfinity Center.

    BALTIMORE (AP) — Outfielder Michael Saunders has agreed to a minor league contract with the Baltimore Orioles, who assigned him to Triple-A Norfolk.
    Saunders has played nine major leagues seasons, hitting 81 homers and driving in 283 runs in 775 games. Last year, he split time between Toronto and Philadelphia.

    CRISFIELD, Md. — A spokeswoman for the Maryland State Police says a man suspected of shooting his estranged wife before fatally shooting himself is a former trooper.

    (CNN) — China’s Tiangong-1 space lab re-entered the Earth’s atmosphere around 8.15 a.m. Monday (8:15 p.m. ET Sunday) in a fiery fall, China’s Manned Space Agency said.
