    BALTIMORE (WJZ)– A Prince George’s County man has been arrested for allegedly distributing and possessing child porn.

  • Stolen Dog Missing For 3 Years Found During Traffic Stop, Returned To Owner

    BALTIMORE (WJZ) —A German shepherd found by a Howard County Police officer Sunday turned out to be a pup that had been missing for three years.
    Officer Sarah Miller says she came across the dog during a traffic stop. The people in the car said they found the dog running in the road in Baltimore.
    When animal control officers game out to get the dog, they scanned his microchip and learned that he had been stolen from a backyard in July 2015.

  • Police Investigating Murder-Suicide Of 2 Women In Baltimore Co.

    BALTIMORE (WJZ) — Police are investigating a murder-suicide involving two women in Baltimore County.
    Officers were called out to the 4600 block of Debilen Circle just after 11 p.m. Wednesday for a welfare check.
    Friends of the couple had called police after they were unable to get in contact with them.
    Responding officers found Raechele Seanese Gross, 32, and Danielle Tamara Gross, 31, dead inside a locked bedroom.
    Police are investigating their deaths as a murder-suicide.

    BALTIMORE (WJZ) — Former Maryland Senator Nathaniel T. Oaks has pleaded guilty to charges in connection with a federal bribery case.
    Oaks pleaded guilty to two counts of wire fraud, and in return, the remaining eight charges were dropped.
    He will be sentenced in July, and he faces a maximum of 20 years in prison on each count, which will likely be reduced in the plea deal when he is sentenced.

    CBS Local — The last blue moon of the year is set to light up the sky this weekend. For sky watchers, it’ll be the final opportunity to see the rare lunar spectacle until 2020.

    BALTIMORE (AP) — The Orioles have placed designated hitter Mark Trumbo and pitcher Gabriel Ynoa on the 10-day disabled list.

  • Police Searching For Missing 61-Year-Old Man

    BALTIMORE (WJZ) — Police are asking for the public’s help to find a missing 61-year-old man.
    Pinkney Jones was last seen Thursday, in the 5700 block of Fair Oaks Ave.
    He was last seen wearing a black coat with a fur trimmed hood.

  • Maryland Man Indicted On Charges Of Smuggling Illegals Into The U.S.

    BALTIMORE (WJZ) — A federal grand jury has indicted a Maryland man accused of smuggling illegal aliens into the United States.
    Martir Jandres was indicted on a charge of conspiracy to commit human smuggling. He faces a maximum sentence of 10 years in prison.
    According to the indictment, Jandres worked with others in Central America, Mexico, and the U.S., to smuggle illegal immigrants in the country between October 2016 and February 2017.

    BALTIMORE (WJZ/AP) —The Maryland Court of Special Appeals has upheld a circuit court judgement overturning Adnan Syed’s murder conviction and granting him a new trial.
    Syed’s story is at the center of the first season of the popular podcast “Serial.”

    WASHINGTON (AP) — Armed security officers are becoming more prevalent at America’s schools, according to a federal study released Thursday amid a heated debate over whether teachers and other school officials should carry guns.
    Armed officers were present at least once a week in 43 percent of all public schools during the 2015-16 school year, compared with 31 percent of schools a decade before, according to data from a survey conducted by the National Center for Education Statistics.

    SACRAMENTO, Calif. (AP) — California’s capital city is on edge for the funeral of a 22-year-old unarmed black man killed by Sacramento police in his grandparents’ backyard.

    BALTIMORE (WJZ)– The Baltimore Police Department is searching for a missing 66-year-old man.
    Authorities say Stephen Jerome Diven was last seen in the 1100 block of Steelton Avenue Wednesday.Detectives say Diven is 5-foot-9 and weighs about 350 pounds. He was last seen wearing a grey t-shirt, black sweatpants and a Baltimore Ravens ball cap.

  • Officials: Technician Changed Security Settings For Baltimore’s Emergency System

    BALTIMORE (WJZ) — The Baltimore City 911 dispatch system was breached Sunday, prompting a temporary shutdown of automated dispatching, according to the mayor’s office.
    A spokesperson for Mayor Catherine Pugh said in a statement Tuesday that the breach at 8:30 a.m. affected messaging functions within the system’s Computer Aided Dispatch Network, which supports 911 and public safety emergency services.

  • Couple Charged With Animal Cruelty After Dog Had To Be Euthanized

    BALTIMORE (WJZ) — Police say they’ve saved seven dogs from a deadly and illegal dog kennel in Anne Arundel County, but one dog had to be put down.
    The two owners of the fake business are now facing 40 counts of animal cruelty.
    A tip to investigators led to officers raiding the home.
    Neighbors of the home in Glen Burnie took pictures and videos as police moved in to rescue the dogs and arrest the kennel owners.
    Some of the dogs were reduced to skin and bones, starved and tortured.
