    SARASOTA, Fla. (AP) — Right-hander Dylan Bundy has agreed to a $1.64 million, one-year contract with the Baltimore Orioles, the same as his salary last year.
    Bundy is in an usual situation because he was in the last class allowed to sign major league contracts directly from the amateur draft and made his major league debut in 2012, but does not have enough service time to be eligible for salary arbitration.

  • Maryland Senate Passes Response To Federal Tax Overhaul

    ANNAPOLIS, Md. (AP) — A measure to increase standard tax deductions in Maryland passed the Senate on Wednesday as part of the state’s response to the federal tax overhaul.
    The 46-0 vote sends the bill to the House.
    The measure increases the standard tax deduction by $500 for individuals and $1,000 for couples for three years. The deduction will go from $2,000 to $2,500 for individuals and $4,000 to $5,000 for joint filers.

    WASHINGTON (AP) — Navy officials say a fighter jet has crashed off the coast of Key West, Florida, and rescue efforts are underway.
    The officials say the F/A-18 Hornet’s two crew members ejected, but no other details are available.
    The officials say the crew is based out of Naval Air Station Oceana, in Virginia Beach, Virginia.

  • Navy Jet Crashes Off Key West, Killing 2 Crew Members

    WASHINGTON (AP) — A U.S. Navy fighter jet crashed Wednesday off the coast of Key West, Florida, killing its two crew members.
    The F/A-18 Super Hornet was on approach to land at the naval air station around 4:30 p.m. EDT, and crashed into the water about a mile east of the runway.
    The pilot and weapons system officer ejected and were recovered, but U.S. Naval Air Forces reported late Wednesday night that both had died. Their names are being withheld pending notification of next of kin.

    The automaker says it is aware of two accidents and one injury that may have been caused by the problem.

    FULTON, Md. (AP) — A Maryland firm will pay a $2 million criminal penalty for bribing a Russian nuclear official for uranium-shipping contracts.
